WASHINGTON — Following repeated screams of protestors during the Senate confirmation hearings today, Chairman Dianne Feinstein ordered Capitol Police to momentarily empty the chamber of all spectators.
Prior to the senator clearing the room, Brennan, who is nominated to head the Central Intelligence Agency, stated that while he disapproved of “harsh” CIA tactics, he is in favor of drone strikes.
One protestor yelled toward John Brennan, “Your drone policies are resulting in the deaths of children!”
Feinstein, seemingly exasperated said, “I’m going to say once again, that we welcome everyone here, that we …expect no hissing, that we expect no demonstration in this room. This is a very serious hearing. I will stop the hearing, and I will ask for the room to be cleared.”
Several more protests were heard before Feinstein temporarily recessed the hearing. Afterward, only media and staff members were allowed back in.
